Who is Ken Mashinter?

My History

Moving to Muskoka

I, (ken.mashinter@gmail.com) am a Broker, having completed all the required courses and have the requirements to open and operate my own brokerakge.   I moved to this area in 1992 while still enjoying a successful real estate career in the Newmarket area. I have been licensed since 1987, and started out with a small real estate company in Holland Landing, Ontario. As I grew and learned - I moved up, relocating to Re/MaxOmega Realty Ltd. (brokerage) in Newmarket where I became their top salesman in my first year and earned Re/Max International's highest award for Realtors at that time, in my second year, namely 'The Hall of Fame' award.

After several years there, I joined forces with Sutton Group Realty in Newmarket and while building my home on Emsdale Lake in Kearney,  was still in the top 10 in sales out of 110 office agents. I was longing for the peace and serenity of the north and had always desired to move there. We moved to the north in 1991 and opened my own Company - Northern Lakes Realty Ltd. in 1993 with my wife operating the secretarial roles. We had 3 other agents working with us, and we had a good reputation in the area.

After doing the "Boss" thing for 6 years, I felt I could do better going back to sales, so our sales force closed the office and joined with HomeLife/Muskoka Real Estate Ltd in Huntsville. To the best of my knowleldge my 'Northern Lakes" office was the very FIRST Muskoka Real Estate Board company to have an internet presence and while all the others were saying "This is a fad and will pass" I could see the incredible power the internet could provide for us. HomeLife/Muskoka was extremely happy to get our web presence when we joined them and our existing web site was transferred to them and renamed www.homelifemuskoka.com of which I continued to maintain until the site was re-vamped. I personally created my personal professional web site and I maintain it personally on a daily basis.  It has now been redesigned by a professional in the field of web design, however i still maintian it. I know the importance of technology to do a professional job for my clients.

Since Joining HomeLife/Muskoka Real Estate in 1997, I had 7 consecutive years (since 1998) of being their top salesman and have obtained HomeLife's head office award for this achievement annually until 2005. In 2006 I received HomeLife's Silver Award for outstanding performance and received several awards since,  and several Re/Max awards but to me the awards hold no real value as it is the work for my clients that I desire to do and which makes me put so much effort into their needs. It seems that sales awards are really meant to show the public where a person is in their business. I do not promote or push these awards in my marketing as I do not like to boast about such things. I post this page on my website for those of you who need to know my past history in the business.

Working in Muskoka

In early 2010 the owners of HomeLife/Muskoka announced that they had purchased the Re/max offices in Bracebridge and Huntsville (from separate owners) and along with those two offices comes all the branch offices including Gravenhurst, Kashe Lake, Port Sydney, Burks Falls, Bala, Halliburton, Minden and Port
poring.  Our HomeLife/Muskoka offices now located in Bracebridge, Huntsville and Burks Falls will combine with those Remax offices. The new company came into play near the middle of April, 2010, and maintained two sales locations in Huntsville until March,2011 when all sales staff work out of 75 West Road and 7 King William St, remains for administration offices. In late 2019 Re/Max North Country closed its doors and I am now with Realty Executives in Burks Falls Many of us maintain home offices as a lot of our work is viewed via the internet by out of town buyers and sellers, and I will meet clients at one of our office located on Ontario Street in Burks Falls. Personally, I have a completely outfitted home office.

A Personal Note

I am a Christian and have no use for foul language. Jesus is the one in control and we are here to honor and worship him, and to love others as He loved us. I have been married since 1979 (to the same woman), and we have three grown children (all now on their own and married) and our eldest daughter and son in law have provided 4 wonderful grandsons and 1 granddaughter for us.  our second daughter lives in Washington State and has two children, whom we try to visit when we can.  We lived for 22 years on Emsdale Lake in Kearney and always wanted acreage so after having raised our family there, we decided to purchase acreage just outside of Burks Falls.  Our daughter and husband and their 5 children decided to move up and we were successful in removing a 4,8 acre lot for them and building a new home so now we enjoy them as our neighbours with a driveway linking us. The grandkids love the many trails I have built for their ATV and snowmobile fun, plus the snow tube/ snowboard hill I built behind our home and we enjoy watching them from our sun room.

(Just in case you are wondering my age - I was born June 7/1956)
(If you are really curious, I started selling real estate in 1987 - so how old was I then?)
